Independent Prescribing

TVW Primary Care School have funded places available to support eligible allied health professionals (AHPs) and registered nurses to complete an independent prescribing (IP) module, and gain their ‘IP annotation’.

What is independent prescribing?

The TVW and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Primary Care Schools have collaborated to produce the multi-professional independent prescribing in General Practice document [PDF, size: 273 KB]. This resource provides details on prescribing rights for professions eligible, ongoing development and governance processes.

Eligible professions

The following professions, working in Primary Care are eligible to attain an IP annotation:

  • Paramedics
  • Physiotherapists
  • Podiatrists
  • Registered nurses
