International Medical Graduate (IMG) Welfare Service
The IMG Welfare Service exists to support new-to-the UK doctors. From January 2026, the IMG Welfare Service is available to:

- All IMG doctors in training posts across Wessex (including Hampshire & Isle of Wight, Dorset, Salisbury & Jersey), Thames Valley and KSS.
- All IMG doctors employed by any Trust or GP practice within Wessex (including Hampshire & Isle of Wight, Dorset, Salisbury & Jersey), Thames Valley and KSS, including locally employed doctors (LEDs).
- The spouses and partners of doctors who are eligible to access the service.
The IMG Welfare Service offers a welcoming point of contact for IMGs, promoting wellbeing while helping doctors access the guidance, support and opportunities they need to thrive both professionally and personally.
Support is available through one-to-one Microsoft Teams meetings or by email, depending on your preference. The service can provide signposting and guidance on a range of topics, including accommodation, travel, childcare, car finance, National Insurance, tax, connecting with local support networks, and accessing health and wellbeing services.
Starting work in a new healthcare system, moving to a new country, or settling into a new area can be both exciting and challenging. Whatever stage you are at, please remember that you are not alone—we are here to support you throughout your transition.
